Festival Schedule

Saturday, Nov. 2, 1- 4 p.m. 
Workshops and masterclasses for solo instrumentalists and singers ($15 per student)

Saturday, Nov. 2, 7 p.m.    
Free concert featuring our headliners in Jenkins Theatre

Sunday, Nov. 3, 10 a.m.- 4 p.m.
Clinics with jazz band and choir ensembles ($25 per ensemble)

 

You and your students are invited to attend the Lake Michigan College Jazz Festival on Saturday & Sunday, Nov. 2 & 3, in the LMC Mendel Center Jenkins Theatre (formerly the Mainstage). 

Our special guest headliners are Kim Nazarian and Jay Ashby. Kim (Ithaca College) is the leading soprano for the New York Voices and Jay (Oberlin University) is a Grammy Award-winning music producer and trombonist who has toured with Paul Simon, Paquito D’Rivera, Astrud Gilberto, and many others. 

This festival is open to high school and college students and ensembles.

You will receive an email confirming receipt of your check and registration form. 

 

Festival Performance and Clinic Information 

We have room for 8 choirs and 7 bands.  

Directors may request a morning or afternoon time slot although there are no guarantees for a specific time as scheduling will be on a first received, first assigned basis.

• Each choir will be given 25 minutes for set-up, performance, and clinic. 
• Each band will be given 40 minutes for set-up, performance, and clinic. 
• Performance of two contrasting selections is recommended, although not mandatory. Your pieces may be jazz in nature, musical theatre, or just jazz-like. It is your time to use as you see fit. 

The following equipment will be available for you: 

• 9 ft. Steinway grand piano 
• Drum set 
• Upright bass 
• Bass amp 
• Two (2) monitors 
• Two (2) solo mics
